Bio

Born and raised in Drummondville, Quebec as the only son of a single parent entrepreneur father, I did well and was pretty happy in elementary and high school. Too young to know myself, I picked a career path following a good friend, and learned welding and fitting at a vocational school.

Worked two years in a shop welding ambulance box frames. Observing people work in this medium-sized enterprise, I developed the intuition that my path to happiness at work would imply more intellectual work. Went back to school to learn business skills with the goal of ultimately taking the helm of and developing the small family business. I fell in love with intellectual work in college, and pursued the venture to an English university. Language learning would be central to my professional development, as I planned to develop new markets outside Quebec. Took a semester abroad in Mexico, where the products the company sells are manufactured.

Went from a stimulating university environment used to working in teams solving academic business cases to being alone in my warehouse, serving my customers, managing everything alone. The change of scenery was tough.

I modernized the company by implementing a modern accounting and inventory management software. Developed a CRM software to support my sales effort. Programmed a company website with e-commerce capabilities. And developed other supporting software such as a web scraper that would extract and organize market data, and other software that would automate some of my business processes. I have way more fun fiddling with technology and using it to solve business problems or seizing business opportunities than I have visiting clients and selling my products.
